I purchased the Cayman pro V2 with hopes that I could run it at my local comps out of the box in the stock/ no mod class. Upon unboxing I found the plastic ESC to be DOA and esc’s enclosure to be cracked and hanging loose. Informed Helidirect and they took care of that issue by sending a replacement esc. Once i received the replacement ESC i installed it along with a freshly charged 80/160c 3s lipo, and hit the rocks. Immediately I noticed the play in the portal axles. Severe back and forth play when breaking/cresting over top of rocks, which makes being precise through gates very difficult. I had to take the truck home and spend a few hours on shimming and reducing slop in axles. Back out to the rocks and after about 10 mins of light lines, I noticed the truck being very jerky and jumpy when the ESC would transition out/into FOC. Again making it very difficult to be precise in a comp setting. I have spent days trying each revision of firmware, nothing seems to smooth the transition in/out of FOC. I did also install a 20% overdrive diff in the front axle, which did help with vertical lines, but did not solve the jumpy esc issue. I believe it comes down to improper gear ratios in the mini stellar transmission and fcx24 style portal axles. As of now I wish I would of saved a couple hundred dollars and just purchased a CR18p pro Juice up. My buddy has the juice up and out of the box it is hands down a more capable 1/18 scale crawler.
Great looking truck with a lot of really nice parts but when I plugged in the battery and turned the truck on the ESC/reciever started smoking I have emailed Furitek and let them know have not heard back so we will see I have 2 other Furitek trucks and I love them great trucks but this one not so much!!☹️
worth every penny
Had a broken ESC straight out of the box but it was fairly easy to get a replacement on the way. App is pretty cool and the truck is really strong
This vehicle is on another Level. It is Amazing straight out of the box. I highly recommend this Crawler, you will not be disappointed. Two thumbs 👍🏽 👍🏽 up!!
Great truck lots of upgrades
So to start I really like the quality of the parts on the Cayman Pro V2. But that being said, I think the Lizard Pro RXF that came on my crawler was DOA, as the unit would not "power-on" even with a fully charged Reaction 2S 7.4V 350MAH Lipo battery connected. It has a QC passed sticker and I'm not going open the case to confirm there is a problem, also one of the metal pucks hot-glued to the body came free taking a large chuck of the orange paint with it on first removal. I reached-out to Furitek for resolution by replying to the emails I received confirming purchase, and heard back from a Patrick who ask a bunch of question about my issue then for a video demonstrating the problem. Which I happily supplied, I was then informed by Patrick that he would forward this information on to Furitek and to expect a reply from them. I found this odd as I had assumed that he was with Furitek since this exchange had started by me emailing Furitek in the first place. So in conclusion I have not heard back from Patrick or Furitek, except to ask for this review. I did buy the product during a sale and I had the impression upon opening it that the box had maybe been opened before and then repackaged.
Carbon fiber frame, furitek electronics. Love the orange.
